چکیده

Quawds is a system for interpreting human gait. Quawds uses diierent domain models for diierent diagnostic subtasks depending on which model can perform the subtask most eeciently and eeectively. Associational models are used to identify ndings and rate faults. A qualitative model is used to determine causal relationships between faults and ndings. Abductive assembly is used to coordinate the diierent models. By using knowledge from diierent models, Quawds combines their advantages and avoids their limitations.

Bounding the End-to-End Response Times of Tasks in a Distributed Real-Time System Using the Direct Synchronization Protocol

In a distributed real-time system, a task may consist of a chain of subtasks which execute on diierent processors. In order to guarantee that all timing constraints are met in such a system, it is imperative to be able to determine the end-to-end response time for each task. This report focuses on distributed systems where tasks are periodic and scheduled according to xed priority scheduling al...

Conceptbase: Managing Conceptual Models about Information Systems 1. Multi-language Conceptual Modeling

ConceptBase is a meta data management system intended to support the cooperative development and evolution of information systems with multiple interacting formalisms. It supports a simple logic-based core language, O-Telos, which integrates deductive and object-oriented features in order to support the syntactical, graphical, and semantic customization of modeling languages as well as analysis...

Resolving Connicts in Distributed Diagnosis

Current research in the area of diagnosis with multiple models focuses on a single central diagnostic agent using a hierarchy of system models with diierent abstraction levels. In this approach the system models must have certain strong properties 5, 3], which can only be assured, if all the models are created by the same group of experts. This assumption is a severe limitation in complex syste...

Processing of Structured Documents Using a Syntax-directed Approach Series Editor: Supervisors: Opponent: Abbreviations and Notations

Documents possess a natural structure which can be visualized when they are printed on paper. Traditionally, text processing systems do not support the structured creation of documents. Instead, the formatting speciied by the author deenes implicitly the structure. The system itself is not aware of this structure. However, if the structure could be deened in advance, the system could use it to ...

A Multifunctional Knowledge{Based System for Engineering

Knowledge{based systems are normally designed to perform a single task (e.g., diagnosis) for which they are competent, but their knowledge base is rarely used for other tasks, even when they are very similar and in the same application domain. An alternative approach is to build a knowledge core that has the basic knowledge for certain domain, on top of which diierent tasks could be built. In t...
